Narali Purnima - Festival to express gratitude toward the ocean

              सन आयला गो आयला गो नारळी पुनवेचा
              मनी आनंद झालं कोळयांच्या दुनयेला..

This line from the most popular koligeet( song of the fisherman community of Maharashtra). when the monsoons time was over and condition was good for catching fish in ocean 'Narali Purnima' festival on this occasion celebrated throughout the coastline of Maharashtra.
preparing delicious food mad by coconut is the main food cousin that day. People in the fisherman community wearing traditional cloth and celebrating this festival with friends and family. To express deep gratitude toward the ocean for the upcoming fishing year and pray for good health and life. This type of festival helps us to maintain the fish resources and developed a healthy approach for marine conservation.
As per the 1972 Wildlife protection act, we prepared a list of some most crucial organisms for their conservation. But from last so many decades more 25 marine organisms conserved by local fisherman community including marine turtle and marine mammal. These people don't know about this law and present status about marine conservation but they save much more marine mammal and marine turtles throughout the year. When we working in the field of oceanography or Marine conservation this things may be helpful to us to convert the traditional divine approach of species conservation of local fisherman community into a scientific approach of marine conservation.
Throughout Maharashtra coastline, more than 400 fishing villages(कोळीवाडे ), 173 fish landing centers and more than 15,000 fishing boats in which 13,000 are mechanized, more than 5 lakh people directly or indirectly depend on fishing activities. When we understand the power of such a big number of people throughout this coastline conserves their livelihood with the traditional approach. Now it is a good time to make strong bonding between scientific people in the field of fisheries and oceanography with local fisherman folk.
Happy Narali Purnima to all friends, Researchers, and fisherman brothers and sisters.
